Sample matching (not based on PSM)

Postby vero_1 » Mon Jul 22, 2013 5:55 pm

I have a question concerning sample matching (not PSM).

For my research I have to create two comparable samples (US and European firms) based on variables such as firm size, industry (11 dummies), sales etc.

Afterwards I intend to analyze whether the country (US=1, Europe=0) and another binary coded variable have an influence on the magnitude of write-offs (horizon: 5 years). Write-off ~ Country (0 or 1) + Binary (0 or 1).

As far as I know for PSM the treatment variable has to be a dummy variable. However, for my research I try to create two comparable samples based on different criteria (ordinal and continuous variables). It is not possible to use “Country” as the treatment variable as the influence of country has to be studied afterwards.

Is there any possibility to create two comparable samples in SPSS based on the criteria mentioned above?

Thanks in advance for your help!
