top box scores

Postby marketresearchchris » Mon Jul 14, 2008 5:44 pm

i don't have MR tables, or SPSS tables (or can't find it). using spss 13 (old...i know). i'm kind of stuck and can't figure this out.

i have a scale rating on the quality (1 through 7) of a few different companies. each company is labeled as q17_1, q17_2....q17_8 with q17 being the question number and the number following number being the company. I want to create a top box score for each one of those companies, combining rating scores of 6 and 7 together.

is there a syntax i can use, or a way around using the custom tables? I read on the other threads about something about creating a new variable. how do i specify i only want those two scores?

Thanks.

Look into recoding the top 2 codes into a new code, e.g., Recode var1 (1,2=8) into varx1.

Does this get you close?

Sorry about the smiley

Code: Select all

Look into recoding the top 2 codes into a new code, e.g., Recode var1 (1,2=9) into varx1.
