fault in the dataset

Postby Giovanni » Mon Dec 29, 2008 11:20 am

how can this be?
every time I sort cases by something my whole dataset shifts to number 99. the first 98 are empty in the datafile and the data starts from 99...

for more, every time i split the file and calculate sth., the warning"in split file there are too few cases (N=0). the split file is not analyzed" comes up..

does anybody know anything?

Not really clear as to the steps taken, variable information and SPSS version
See the note below

Maybe you have 98 empty rows. It happens if you enter some data and delete the data but not the rows or if you have some rows without any data and, after the empty rows, more data. If you sort cases, empty rows will always come first, so you should just check the database again.
