How to standardise scale variables with different ranges?

Postby Hypermnestra » Wed Aug 31, 2011 11:30 am

Hello!
The title says it all.
I have some variables which are scale but their ranges vary.
Is there any way to re-compute or transform them so that they will all have the same range? :?:

simply recode? depends on scales of course...

also, why would you want to do that?

Thank you for your response

I want to calculate factor based scores (instead of factor scores which can be added to the dataset through SPSS).
In the calculation the coefficients have produced factor based scores with various ranges.
Do you have any idea on how I could standardise them?

Would standardized z-scores work in your situation?
