Comparing several questions with eachother

Postby fyskungen » Tue Apr 24, 2012 11:01 am

Hello Friends,

I have a question regarding SPSS, how people rank media channels such as TV, Radio, Internet from 1 (very negative) to 7 (very positive). I want to compare this media channels against eachother to see how the medias is compared to eachother. The problem for me is that the question is submitted into three columns (one for Tv, one for radio and one for Internet). I`m trying to do that through a ANOVA-test.

One person said that I need to sum up the TV, Radio and Internet colum into one column first, but I don`t understand how I can see a difference between each media.

Can someone please help me with a step by step guide.

I appreciate your help.

Best regards,

Yes, that person was sort of correct. In order to perform an ANOVA you'll need to stalk up the responses and the types of media into another format. (See illustration)

You can use Data > Restructure to do that. See this for details: ... ngdata.pdf

As a side note, ANOVA is not a perfectly correct test because each person was asked three times (once for each media) and so the assumption of independence is violated. I'd suggest performing a Friedman test. See: ... istics.php
