Standard Deviation

I want to conduct a standard deviation analysis of discrete data collected using a 5-degree Likert scale. Can I modify the standard deviation calculation using the median value instead of the mean value?

Would say "sure" if use the median in the calculation and it doesn't = the mean

Yes but might involve using the OMS facility along with the COMPUTE statement so depending on version (see the Note below) look into both of these
