Prompt user for input with a custom dialog

Postby 0101 » Wed Aug 22, 2012 3:03 am

I am testing out the custom dialog builder (Utilities > Custom Dialog Builder).

I created a dialog with a combo box where the user can select a color (red, blue, or green) and a radio button where he can select either "A" or "B." I created a syntax template to pass his selections into the syntax window, with some additional text.

Is there a way to call this dialog box via syntax as opposed to assigning it to a menu item? It's part of a larger syntax file and I'd like the user to be able to run the whole syntax file and get prompted with the dialog box when needed.

I thought this would be a simple task but I can't make heads or tails out of the help file and what I find online.

Thanks for any pointers. (Using SPSS 20).
