Merging data from different time points

Postby jgalarne » Tue Dec 02, 2014 4:10 pm

Hello all, I am trying to merge data from different time points. I have for example trial 1 and trial 2 and trial 3 data which all have been merged previously. I have now obtained new trial 2 data and I am unable to merge it. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

This is the syntax that I have used:

MATCH FILES FILE = "...."
/FILE = "...."
/BY IDMaster.
EXECUTE.
SAVE OUTFILE= "....".

The above syntax always works for me except in this particular case. What ends up happening is absolutely nothing; spss doesn't fill in the trial 2 data with the data from the second file.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

There is probably an error message in the output file, usually problems with merging occur when you either forget to sort on the matching variable in both files, or if there is a double case in the second file.
Check the error message, and if that is not clear, post it here.

Good luck!
