URGENT!!!can i combine the items into one??

Postby chloe123 » Wed Jan 28, 2015 2:38 pm

I am doing my dissertation and I am confused and frustrated in working SPSS
I want to test the relationship between perceived service quality and customer satisfaction
and according to the SERVQUAL model, 22 items were included.
therefore, I want to group the items into 5 dimensions.
Let say, tan1, tan2, tan3, tan4 <-----can I group this 4 items into one and call it Tangible
Therefore, I can have 5 main categories in total and using linear regression to test the hypotheses.
Tangible->Customer Satisfaction
Reliability->Customer Satisfaction
and so on.

Can someone help me and figure out this problem!!!?
Thank you very much!!!

you can use the copute function to compute a new variable based on other variables (e.g., the mean).
if this is not what you mean by "combine" please specify what you want.
