Excluding cases in a step-wise fashion

Postby ha200 » Thu Oct 27, 2016 11:54 am

Hi,

I am looking to run descriptive statistics (frequencies) on a large data set. However, I have identified some likely erroneous entries which I would like to exclude first.

I would like to exclude individuals who do not have an illness, but are taking medication for it. In other words, those who are illness-free but take medication for the illness anyway.

I am struggling to find a way to do this and would greatly appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you mean 'data > select cases > select if condition is satisfied'?

I have tried this but I can't figure out how I'd exclude in the way I describe.

If I choose to exclude those who have no disease AND who take medication, there is no order applied i.e. fulfilling one or the other condition results in exclusion (which I don't think should be the case for the "AND" operator).

Thanks.
