restructuring data table

Postby qcmgjb » Mon Aug 07, 2017 9:17 pm

I have an extremely large raw data file containing the following 7 variables for each observation: County, HispanicMales, HispanicFemales, WhiteMales, WhiteFemales, BlackMales, BlackFemales.

I need to create a table based on this data, and my new table will have only 4 variables: County, RaceEthnicity, Males, Females.

In my raw data file, I have 3,006 observations. My new data file will have 9,018 observations (3,006 x 3 = 9,018) because in my new data file I going to have 3 observations, from each individual observation in my raw data file.

In the attached image, you will see an example of what I need to achieve.

Not sure, but I am wondering if possibly the solution to this problem might involve using something like "Data >> Restructure" perhaps?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
