Statistician Researcher needed for 4-months in Albany NY

Documentation Strategies IT Consulting Practice is representing a NYS agency in search of a Statistician Researcher for a 4-month Fraud Research & Data Mining Refinement project in Albany, NY with 50% on- and 50% off-site work.

You will:
* gain understanding of NYS agency program's data storage structure and data access tools
* analyze data using accepted statistical analysis methods to detect common characteristics of claimants who commit fraud
* build statistical models and custom risk/fraud prediction solutions
* produce statistical analysis of data and report predictive value of combination of characteristics
* assist technology staff in implementing system to produce analysis of each new claim and every existing claim, and report claimant*s electronic file with fraud risk score

The ideal candidate must possess:
* BS, or MS in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or other quantitative field
* 5+ years experience in statistical analysis of large data sets
* solid experience with SAS, or SQL for data analysis and reporting
* experience in wide range of statistical and analytical tools, including non-parametric profiling, correlation, regression / cluster / univariate / multivariate / cross-sectional / time series / factor / hierarchical / partitional and pattern analysis and logistic regression
* experience in statistical sampling design, estimation, extrapolation, statistical modeling, including forecasting and prediction, data mining and exploratory and complex data analysis, hypothesis testing, probability theory and survey design
* demonstrated experience performing statistical and analytical analysis in government environments
* SPSS and Minitab, preferred
* proficiency in Excel and Access
* solid analytic, critical thinking and decision support skills
* effective written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate conclusions and strategy implications to peers, manager and clients
