Reading in file with missing values using syntax

Postby jspirt » Tue Jan 02, 2018 4:49 pm

Hi,

I am trying to read in a .dat file using syntax. My .dat file has many variables, both numeric and character. The issue is that virtually all of the numeric variables have at least one missing value, which is in the .dat file as .

SPSS gives me a warning message for each instance of this, saying that my file has numeric values with no digits. SPSS does say that they (correctly) interpret these values as missing, and sets them to the system-missing value--so far, so good.

The issue is that my team really needs the syntax file to run without producing any errors or warnings. Is there some sort of option I can activate that won't produce warnings in this instance? Or some kind of command that will prevent this from happening?

Any help is much appreciated.
