after computing variable, new cases added. Compute all again?

Postby Rienk » Sun Jan 17, 2016 5:06 pm

Hello,

I have a question about SPSS. I have computed some new variables from the existing variables. Later I have added some new cases. I really don't want to compute all these variables again. Is there an option in SPSS, which computes these new variables for the new cases?

Not really, however, if you saved your output or syntax, you can simply rerun it.
That is also why it is advised to not compute directly from the menu, but rather use syntax.

Thank you for your response. I have saved my output. Now I am wondering how I can rerun this? I suppose I don't have to do this variable by variable. There has to be another way, isn't it?

Your syntax is also in the output (for instance: compute ....). Simply copy and paste that to syntax and rerun, you can do that for every variable at once.
