Sub question on a Questionnaire

Postby SPSS Newbie » Tue Feb 23, 2016 11:47 am

How do I input the option of a sub question on SPSS

Example

1) Do you travel by train?
a) Yes [] b)No[] c)Via Virgin Trains []

The idea is for the respondent to answer the main question answering yes or no. Then if they have answered Yes, they would answer part C of if it was by Virgin trains, if not, they would leave the box unticked.

How can I produce this on SPSS.

If understand then simply have 1 variable, e.g. "Travel" and enter the response and another e.g., "How" and enter the response. If No then cell would be empty/missing, else the viable response code
