Blanc value date variabele not recognized SYSMIS

Postby maaikesmits » Wed May 11, 2016 11:48 am

Hello,

I have multiple date variables that contain missings data (blancs). For most of the data values (variabele level: scale), when asking for frequencies the blanc values are reported as missing. However, I have two data variables for which SPSS does not recognize the blanc values as missing. The two variables that are not recognized as having missings when blancs, have been created by myself, whereas the rest was copied from an excelfile. However, in the current SPSS file, I do not see any differences regarding variable type, level, width etc, I made these all these same. Does anyone have any idea wat the problem could be, causing these variables to be handled differently regarding the recognition of blanc values as missing?

Kind Regards,
Maaike
