### How to calculate "Mode" in SPSS

Hi,
I am new to SPSS. I am facing a problem while computing a new variable. I want to compute a new variable “mode” having most repeated value among 7 variables (a,b,c,d,e,f,g). I am using PASW 18. I don’t get what function to apply using syntax for calculating most repeated value “Mode”.

Help much appreciated….

Hi Bhalli.

Analyze>Descriptive Stats>Frequencies>Stats>Central Tendency>Tick the mode box.

### Re: How to calculate "Mode" in SPSS

Hi Analyst Techy,

Thank you for informative reply. I am afraid I could not make me clear on my problem.
May it make clearer on my problem.

ID a b c d e f g Mode
1 1 2 2 1 1 1 2 mode from "a" to "g"
2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 mode from "a" to "g"
3 1 4 3 1 1 1 1 mode from "a" to "g"
4 2 3 2 2 2 2 2 mode from "a" to "g"
5 3 4 1 2 1 1 1 mode from "a" to "g"
6 2 1 2 1 1 1 3 mode from "a" to "g"

Mode is my new variable having mode from variables “a” to “g”.
