### Need help identifying how to input the data for mean and SD

Hi,

I hope you can help. I'm trying to do the SPSS for my MSc thesis...it's been five years since my undergrad and I have completely forgotten how to use SPSS!

I have two sets of data for 7 participants. Pre test, and post test data...but that data is then split up into 9 sub categories so for example participant 1 has scores like this pre: 13, 7, 14, 22, 29, 32, 5, 9, 12 and post: 18, 11, 19, 25, 32, 35, 7, 15, 20

How would I input the data for all 7 participants in order to obtain means and standard deviation just to put those figures in a table?

I just don't know how to lay it all out. Any and all help would be SO appreciated!
Thank you!

LOL. Of course. Do you need the mean (SD) of one item but from the 7 people, or you do you need the mean (SD) of all the items within a person?

### Re: Need help identifying how to input the data for mean and

Hmm well in a table I have seen in another paper that has the same subset measures as me, they have a table with the means and sd for each subset so like this:
Pre test Post test
n m SD m Sd
Co operation 7 17.7 11 18.2 13
Visual 7 15.3 9 16.5 12
Motor 7 21.2 16 24.5 7

If that makes sense.

I want to know the average mean and standard deviation across all of the individuals scores for each subset.

Thanks.

In that case, try the format in the pic. It should allows you to get all the mean and SD and also paired comparison if you wish to go there.
