Mixed Models Analysis Warning!

Postby DrexVPatel » Fri Oct 11, 2013 7:06 pm

We’re conducting a mixed models analysis but get the warning stating …

"Iteration was terminated but convergence has not been achieved. The MIXED procedure continues despite this warning. Subsequent results produced are based on the last iteration. Validity of the model fit is uncertain."

and we’re not sure why. We keep getting the same warning even after changing the iteration to greater numbers. Our syntax reads as follows:

MIXED WeightFUkg BY momCESD WITH Age2
/CRITERIA=CIN(95) MXITER(1000) MXSTEP(5) SCORING(1) SINGULAR(0.000000000001)
HCONVERGE(0, ABSOLUTE) LCONVERGE(0, ABSOLUTE) PCONVERGE(0.000001, ABSOLUTE)
/FIXED=momCESD Age2 Age2*momCESD | SSTYPE(3)
/METHOD=REML
/PRINT=G SOLUTION TESTCOV
/RANDOM=INTERCEPT age2 | SUBJECT(GrowID) COVTYPE(UN).

Please let us know if there is an error of some sort which we are missing, possibly some explanation to this unfortunate repeating warning for our data.

Thank you.

I think it's Windows 7, and the SPSS version is 21.

And for our study were using mixed models analysis to see if maternal depression scores predict worse weight gain over time in a clinic for underweight children.

We keep getting the above stated Warning. Please help, thank you!
