Okay... I have a T-test that is significant (p=.036). I have two groups (those that saw a sign and those that didn't see a sign) and the question was if they thought the water was drinkable. How do you figure out which group thinks the water is more drinkable vs. less drinkable. I know that it has to do with the mean difference (-.451) but have no idea what it is. Maybe something to do with how I entered the data in SPSS... but don't really know. thanks for any information (needed ASAP... 1st draft of thesis is due on monday.. yes tomorrow!).

thanks,

hannah

1st draft sure gone but, anyway: the difference is given according to the variable order IN the test. Positive difference means that the mean of the first variable > mean of the second variable (opposite for negative, obviously). Or just check the means.
Of course, conclusions depends on how data looks like and what they are, exactly (don't know if the value for "drinkable" is bigger than the value for "not drinkable"...)
