SPSS mixed model planned contrasts syntax

Postby jfischersf49 » Mon Sep 05, 2016 8:36 pm

Hello, Please help, I am using syntax to run linear mixed models and attempting to set up contrasts for planned comparisons and am getting an error message regarding the "TEST" subcommand. I have 3 groups (IV) assessed for sleep problems (DV) at 3 time points. My planned orthogonal contrasts involve exploring group differences in sleep problems at each time point, such that group 1 is different from groups 2 and 3 combined, and sleep in groups 2 and 3 are different.

Here is my syntax below. Is the TEST command not allowed for this? for some reason SPSS is not recognizing the "TEST" subcommand.

MIXED Sleep BY RMtime Group Age_at_6WK
/CRITERIA=CIN(95) MXITER(100) MXSTEP(10) SCORING(1) SINGULAR(0.000000000001) HCONVERGE(0, ABSOLUTE) LCONVERGE(0, ABSOLUTE) PCONVERGE(0.000001, ABSOLUTE)
/FIXED=RMtime Group RMtime*Group Age_at_6WK | SSTYPE(3)
/METHOD=REML
/PRINT=COVB SOLUTION TESTCOV
/REPEATED=RMtime | SUBJECT(ID) COVTYPE(UN).
/test ='contrasts of group' Group -1 .5 .5 0 0 0 0 0 0; Group 0 -1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0.

I have also tried this Test command syntax to no avail:

/TEST ='INJvsTD' grouptime -1 .5 .5 0 0 0 0 0 0.
/TEST ='TBIvsEI' grouptime 0 -1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0.

Nor substituting TEST for "Contrast" command...

/CONTRAST ='INJvsTD' Group -1 .5 .5 0 0 0 0 0 0.
/CONTRAST ='TBIvsEI' Group 0 -1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0.

Any help is welcome, thank you!!!
