Visual C++ Runtime Library Error

Postby Val » Tue Oct 23, 2007 2:28 am

Every time I've tried merging files today, i've received an error titled Visual C++ Runtime Library:

Assertion Failed!
Program: c:\PROGRA~1\SPSS\spsswin.exe
File: Z:\cs_source\Datasource\src\dictnry.cpp
Line: 150

Expression: 0 <= mark

For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.

It then states i can debug, but if i hit retry, it just shuts down.

I use spss daily, and merge files all the time, have never seen this error. Any ideas?

Another peculiar thing that is happening within the same file is that if i recode a variable, it will disappear as soon as i hit save.

maybe the error is caused by having duplicate keys in the key variable from the file that you've specified as the key table. Each case on a TABLE file in MATCH FILES must be uniquely identified by the BY variables.

Getting the Assertion Failed! message is a defect with the software and has been reported to SPSS Development for fixing.
