Computing variables in SPSS 16

Postby bcowan3 » Fri Feb 06, 2009 6:27 pm

Hi all,

have been trying to compute a summated scale variable in SPSS 16 but I keep on getting the message that my variable names are too long. What is that all about? I used to be able to do this fine in SPSS 15. I know that reducing these names may help but I am working on a questionnaire so like to have the items in the output. Has anyone found this porblem or a way to get round it apart from reducing the variable label size?

P.S. What is up with SPSS 16? It looks naff and slows my computer down so much I can go for a cup of tea between running analysis. GRRRRR......

Rant over.

Thanks
