Do I run a MANOVA or ANOVA?

Postby stanton009 » Sat Apr 19, 2014 11:56 am

Hi everyone, and thanks for your help!

I am using SPSS 21.

My design tests 15 individuals (all male) who will repeat the same 6 tests under 3 different conditions (a control, favourite music, and non-favourite music)

The outcome of each test is measured in repetitions, i.e. 15 push ups.

I want to test to see whether there is a significant difference between any of the 3 conditions.

Do I fill out the variables as:

Pushups1, Pushups2, Pushups3, Situps1 etc (1 = control, 2 = favourite, 3 - non-favourite)

Or should I go about it a different way?

Any help would really be appreciated as I do not know which tests to use! (I'm thinking repeated measures on way anova?)

Thanks a lot,
Kris.

you are right entering the data this way, and you should indeed use repeated measures anova.
