Recoding a continuous variable in frequency

Postby nicoladiggi » Fri May 16, 2014 11:10 am

Dear all,

I have a continuous variable and a binary variable. I would like to express the continuous variable in frequencies of the binary variable.
In detail:
The continuous variable is temperature. The binary variable is death.
I would like to have a new variable that is the percentage of death per each 0,5 degree of temperature.

I tried binning but then I don't know how to include the binary variable.

Is there any simple way to do that in spss? I searched in google and in the forum but i could't find any sensible approach.

Thank you very much for assistance
Nicola

Sounds like you will have to use "Binning" but ....
See the note below
