T test/ANOVA and confidence intervals graph

Postby clcp » Fri Jan 16, 2015 1:35 pm

Hello,

I am struggling with a probably somewhat simple problem in the attempt to visualise whether there are any significant differences between means in my dataset.

Situation:
I have imported data from excel divided into 5 cases (representing observed groups of an experiment). Each case has a number of variables including some already calculated means. However, when I try to plot these means with the chart builder using the 'Simple error bar' chart type I have a problem. The problem is that only the means are displayed but with no upper or lower confidence markers. Logically, they would not be there as the imported data set does not let SPSS know how many samples the data is derived from. (I realise this is a weakness and that there is not std. deviation, etc., but for just comparing means I should be ok).

Question:
How do I make SPSS know how many samples the abovementioned means are based on?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am not entirely sure, but I think SPSS is not the best option for you in this case.
Maybe use excel?
