Binary data: Distance Measure: Pattern differences

Postby sewyenjung » Tue Jan 19, 2016 1:32 am

Hello. The version of SPSS used was V22.
The data was meant for forensic entomology. There is five stages of decomposition (in order) and in each of these stages some insect species can be found (binary data). The idea is to show that there is significant differences in insect composition in between these stages. What I did was Analyze > Correlate > Distances > Dissimilarity > Measuring pattern differences

....this is the data set .... and i get something like this
2.png
.... I get these values, but I do not know how to interpret them. Also, I am unsure if this method can be used for such data for the intended idea to show that there is significant differences in insect composition in between these stages. Here, I have few question....

1. Am I doing it right?
2. How do I interpret the output value?
3. If the method I used was wrong, what method would be suitable?

I appreciate your time in thinking about this issue of mine. Do help me. Thank you.
