Factor analysis

Postby MathDe » Sat Sep 17, 2016 9:28 am

Hello!
I really need some help because I am still new into SPSS.
I am doing a research which aims to use factor analysis for two different age groups and then to compare the differences and similarities which exist between the two groups.
The age groups are: aged 18-34 and 35-55.
So how is more correct 1) to divide the sample into the two age groups and to run factor analysis on the two groups separately or
2) to do factor analysis on the whole sample and then to use ANOVA in order to see whether differences between the two age groups exist?
I cannot understand how to compare the results in the first case.
Really appreciate your help!
