I performed a repeated measure analysis of variance 2 (groups) x 5 (emotions) and I found no significant difference (p=.20) between the second and fifth emotion for the first group (mean of second emotion=.64; mean of fifth emotion=1.79; mean difference= 1.14).
Given that the mean difference is high, it seemed strange that the comparison was not significant. So, I performed a t-test in which I just compared the second and the fifth emotion. In this case, the statistic was significant (p-value=.03).
Why there is this different result between the anova anf t-test?
