How to organize a 3 way mixed ANOVA?

Postby mariastats » Thu Feb 09, 2017 1:39 pm

I'm doing a study on how light therapy (2 conditions: bright and dim) and a protein shake (2 conditions: type A or B) can effect of facial emotion recognition (6 levels: sad, angry, happy, disgusted, fearful, surprised) in people with seasonal affective disorder.

Half women are placed in the bright light condition, and the other half are placed in the dim light condition. All women try protein shake A on one day and shake B on another day. All women do the facial emotion recognition task at the end of each day.

I want to do a 3 way mixed ANOVA and see if there is a Light x Shake x Emotion interaction.

How do I organize the data in SPSS? Like this? I made up an example with 4 people below. (Sorry... can't get the header to match underneath with the numbers...)

ID Light(0=dim;1=bright) Shake(0=A;1=B) Emotion (1=sad;2=happy, 3etc) Task Output
1 0 0 1 X
2 0 0 1 X
3 1 0 1 X
4 1 0 1 X
1 0 0 1 X
2 0 0 1 X
3 1 0 1 X
4 1 0 1 X
1 0 1 1 X
2 0 1 1 X
3 1 1 1 X
4 1 1 1 X
1 0 1 1 X
2 0 1 1 X
3 1 1 1 X
4 1 1 1 X
1 0 0 2 X
2 0 0 2 X
3 1 0 2 X
4 1 0 2 X
1 0 0 2 X
2 0 0 2 X
3 1 0 2 X
4 1 0 2 X
1 0 1 2 X
2 0 1 2 X
3 1 1 2 X
4 1 1 2 X
1 0 1 2 X
2 0 1 2 X
3 1 1 2 X
4 1 1 2 X
