Different data within cell

Postby baifulang » Thu Feb 23, 2017 1:14 am

Hi,
I'm totally new to SPSS and need to create frequency reports for a set of data in Excel which contains different variables within cells, that is, text values separated by periods (full stops). Example:
1) "Spain" "Cinema. Subtitles. Dubbing."
2) "France" "Dubbing. Research."
I want to count for example all items that include "Dubbing" in that field and then create frequency reports and graphs, but I really can't find the way to do it. I don't even know how this function is named, so I cannot look it up in the forum, sorry.

Have you imported it into SPSS?

If not then when you do part of the import will allow you to define the field entry format whereby you might be able to split out the field but ...........
See the note below
