Saving and reopening .sav files

Postby ortho85 » Mon Apr 03, 2017 6:18 am

I'm new to this programme, so sorry for the dumb question.

While working with a data file I need to split it and select cases. If I then save and close, should the data still be split/selected when I reopen the .sav file?

That doesn't happen for me, and I'm wondering if I am doing something stupid?

The save doesn't store that so it will revert to the original - Rerun the action steps or use syntax

Also ...............

OK, thanks. However I don't want to revert to the original, just to open the file as it was when I closed it. The info is still in the 'output' file, but the file is no longer split or selected when I reopen it.

I can rerun the steps, but it seems odd to have to do that. A bit like editing a Word doc, then the edits not saving.

I'm using Windows 8.1, SPSS version 22, and studying psychology. So the data is random stuff, such as using Andy Fields files.

Thanks.

Just the way it is - Perhaps submit a suggestion to SPSS
