Issue with Age Variable

Postby pop_marco » Sun Feb 19, 2017 8:45 pm

I have an issue with my variable "age"... If I go in the Variable View, there is no way of changing it to Scale! Only Ordinal and Nominal appear. Does anybody know the reason why? Due to this I cannot create a variable with age groups! I've already checked the data, there was some "years old", but I've already deleted it...
Many thanks!

It's probably because your age variable is a string, the variable needs to be numeric before you can fully play with it !!!

Deleting the "years old" mentions and stuff like that is not enough to make your variable numeric.

You have to be super careful to not lose any datas. The possibility of losing datas is very high here.

A good way to work would be to do copy your variable to make a test one. Then switch your test variable from string to numeric and sort both variables to see what datas you lost.

I hope I'm clear enough !! Good luck and again, be careful !
